Youth electrocuted while stealing transformer

NATORE, Aug 14: A young man was electrocuted while trying to steal a transformer from an electric pole in Baraigram Upazila of the district on Monday night.

The incident took place in Sreerampur Village of the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Rajib Hossain, 28, son of Md Raj Ali, a resident of Nayongathi Village under Ullapara Upazila in Sirajganj District.

It was known that Rajib came in contact with live electricity while he was trying to steal a transformer from an electric pole in Sreerampur area at night, which left him dead on the spot.

Locals then found his body on Tuesday morning and informed the Fire Service Station.

On informed, Fire Service personnel rushed in and recovered the body.

Baraigram Sadar Union Parishad Member Md Zillur Rahaman Tota confirmed the incident.
