JOYPURHAT, Aug 14: Bangladesh Army and Ansar forces have recovered arms, ammunition, and other materials that were looted by miscreants during an attack on the Joypurhat Sadar Police Station (PS).
The recovered weapons were handed over to the PS on Monday evening.
The information was confirmed through separate press releases by Lieutenant Colonel Zubair Shafique, commanding officer of the Joypurhat Army Camp, and District Commandant of Ansar Mirza Sifat-e Khoda.
On August 5 last, following the fall of the Awami League government, students and the public celebrated with victory parades. At that time, a group of criminals attacked the Joypurhat Sadar PS and stole weapons, ammunition, and various government properties from the station.
Acting on a tip-off, army personnel recovered a Chinese rifle from the Hichmi Bazar area on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, the District Ansar Commandant's press release stated that Ansar members recovered several items including a tear gas grenade launcher, nine tear gas grenades, four rounds of shot-gun ammunition, a handcuff, four motorcycles, thirteen walkie-talkie batteries, three mobile phones, a camera, and a laptop. These items were also handed over to the PS on Monday evening.
