2 more murder cases filed against Hasina

Two more murder cases against dethroned prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her cohorts were filed with Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court on Thursday allegedly killing auto-rickshaw driver Shahabuddin of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and Madrasha student Jobayed Hossain Imon of Mohammadpur.

With two cases, a total five cases were filed in three days against Hasina after she fled to India in the face of a mass upsurge of students and the people on August 5. 

Four murder cases and one abduction case have so far been filed against Sheikh Hasina since she was ousted from power in the face of the student movement.

In one of the cases, 16 people, including Hasina, have been charged in connection with the death of madrasa student Jobaid Hossain Imon in shooting from RAB's helicopter gunship.

The deceased Imon was a 4-grade student of Darunnazat Islamia Madrasa in Mohammadpur in this case 15 other accused are Awami League leader Obaidul Quader, former ministers -- Asaduzzaman Khan, Anisul Huq, Tajul Islam, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Hasan Mahmud and Mohammad A Arafat - former private industry affairs adviser to former prime minister Salman F Rahman and former lawmaker Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin, former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Rab's former DG Harun Or Rashid, former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman, former Additional IGP Kh Mahid Uddin, former DB (DMP) chief Harun Or Rashid and former DMP joint commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarker. 

Besides, unidentified members of RAB's helicopter patrol team and their commanding officers have been named as accused as well.

Abdullah Abu Sayeed Bhuiyan, uncle of victim Imon on Thursday filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury over the murder of Imon in police firing in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area during quota reform protests on July 19.

After a hearing, the magistrate recorded the complainant's statement and directed the Officer-in-Charge of Mohammadpur Police Station to register the complaint as a first information report (FIR).

On the other hand, 11 people including Sheikh Hasina have been accused in the murder case of an auto-rickshaw driver Shahabuddin. The victim's father Abul Kalam filed the case.

Sher-e-Bangla Nagar's  auto-rickshaw driver Shahabuddin murder case's other 10  accused are former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former ICT state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former law minister Anisul Huq, Hasina's adviser Salman F Rahman, former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, former state minister Mohammad Ali Arafat, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, former AIGP Harun-Or-Rashid, former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman and Additional Joint Police Commissioner Biplab Kumar.

Md Abul Kalam, father of the victim, prayed to the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farah Diba Chanda for filing the case. 

After scrutinizing the documents submitted before the court, the judge asked the Officer-in-Charge of Sher-e Bangla Nagar Police Station to register the complaint as a First Information Report (FIR), plaintiff's lawyer Liton Mia said.

According to the case statement, the victim Shahabuddin was shot dead around 7:15pm on August 5 by some unidentified members of the police as he left home to buy food for his family members.

Soon after being shot, the victim collapsed on the street. Later, people around him rescued him and took him to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Sheikh Hasina, who was in power for the past 15 years, on August 5, her government, fell and she fled to India, after weeks of peaceful movement during which over 400 people were killed.
