The interim government has redistributed ministries to advisers after four new advisers were sworn in on Friday, according to a press statement issued by the Chief Adviser's press wing.

The council also distributed portfolios among four newly-inducted advisers, who were sworn in at the Bangabhaban, and gave additional charges to seven other advisers.
Earlier on August 9, the Cabinet Division announced the distribution of ministries among the advisers, with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus being given charge of 27 ministries and divisions.

According to the new press statement, some advisers have been given charge of new ministries, some others have seen a change in roles.

Among major reshuffles, Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has been named the new Home Affairs Adviser of the interim government, replacing Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain.

Sakhawat Hossain has been given the charge of the Textiles and Jute Ministry, according to a statement issued by the Chief Adviser's press wing on Friday.

Former director general of BGB Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, will also be in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Meanwhile, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed has also been given charge of the Ministry of Commerce as well.

Among the other new advisers, Economist Wahiduddin Mahmud has been given charge of the Ministry of Planning and Ministry of Education. 

Former cabinet secretary Ali Imam Majumder, also a new adviser, has been appointed to the Office of the Chief Adviser. 

Former power secretary Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, another new adviser, has been given charge of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources; the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Ministry of Railways.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul has also been given charge of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment; and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan has been given charge of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works in addition to the Ministry of Industries.

Environment, Forest and Climate Adviser Rizwana Hasan has been additionally given charge of the Ministry of Water Resources.
Sports and Youth Adviser Asif Mahmud, has additionally been given charge of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

ICT Adviser Nahid Islam, another student movement coordinator to sit in the advisory council, has additionally been given charge of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

War Affairs Adviser Farruk-e-Azam has been additionally bestowed the charge of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.

Four more advisers to the interim government were sworn-in on Friday. President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath to them at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban here at 4:11 pm.

The new advisers were sworn-in in the presence of interim government chief adviser Nobel Laureate Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus.

The adviser who took oath today are Economist Wahiduddin Mahmud, former secretary Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, former cabinet secretary Ali Imam Majumder and former director general of defunct Bangladesh Rifles Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

After taking the oath, each of them individually signed the oath and 'the oath of secrecy' as well. Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain conducted the oath-taking ceremony.

Advisers, chiefs of the three services Bangabhaban secretaries, and senior military and civil officials were present on the occasion.

With the swearing-in of the four advisers, the members of the 'Council of Advisers' in the Yunus-led interim government now stands at 21. Earlier, 17 advisers of the interim government took oath in three phases.

 In the face of student-people uprising, Sheikh Hasina resigned as the prime minister and fled the country on August 5.  Subsequently, the parliament was dissolved and an interim government, led by Prof Yunus, was formed.
