Three individuals were killed and two others injured after facing a tragic road accident in Cumilla's Chandina upazila on Saturday.

The accident took place around 12.30 PM on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway adjacent to Madhaiya Muktijuddha Smrity College in the upazila.
However, the identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Eliotganj Highway police outpost officer-in-charge Manjurul Alam confirmed the incident.

Citing locals, Manjurul Alam said that the accident occurred when the driver of a Chattogram-bound microbus lost control over the steering of the four wheeler, hit a roadside tree and subsequently overturned into a roadside ditch. Five passengers of the vehicle sustained critical injuries at that time.

Later, Fire Service members with the help of police personnel rescued the injured and took Chandina Upazila Health Complex where the physicians declared three of them dead, added the OC.
