The hope for arranging the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh is not diminished yet as said the Youth and Sports Adviser to the interim government Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan on Sunday.

The adviser was talking in a press meet at the Ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat on the day.

There, he said, "We are hopeful to arrange the upcoming 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh."

"... We are in touch with the ICC regarding the matter. I will discuss everything with our Chief Adviser Dr Yunus sir and collaborate with our Home Affairs Adviser, and other stakeholders for a solution. There is some progress. Hopefully, you will get good news soon," said Asif Mahmud.

The international Cricket tournament is scheduled to be held from 3 to 20 October in Dhaka and Sylhet venues. A total of ten countries are to play there.

Nevertheless, uncertainty arose with the overthrow of the Awami League-led administration, and at that time, law and order was yet to be reinstated throughout the nation.

Prior to the commencement of the month-long nationwide demonstration, several nations' embassies and high commissions in Dhaka issued travel advisories urging caution.

It became doubtful in that circumstance as to whether the nation could pull off the October competition.

Besides, the advisor also said that the sports lovers were going to get good news about Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president post soon.

The post of Football and Cricket governing bodies are to stay unaffected by the country government as per FIFA and ICC rules. That's why the ministry was patient about the matter.  After the last government fall, many sports fans were waiting to the BCB president resign from the post.
