Two young men were murdered in separate incidents in two districts - Cox's Bazar and Barishal, on Friday.

COX'S BAZAR: A young man was beaten to death on suspicion of cattle theft in the district on Friday.
His body was discovered at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sazzad Hossain Suniya, 21, son of Mohammad Alam, a resident of Madhya Kolatali area under Cox's Bazar Municipality.

According to Sazzad's wife Shahnaz Parveen, the incident began at around 2 pm on Friday when one Noor Ahmed, a resident of Soikat Para area, along with his family members abducted Sazzad.

He was taken to their residence, where he was subjected to horrific torture throughout the day on accusation of stealing a cow.

Later that night, Sazzad's relatives were contacted and informed that they would need to pay Tk 1 lakh for his release.

However, at around 5 am on Saturday, the family received an anonymous call from Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, informing them that Sazzad's body had been placed in the hospital morgue.

Sazzad's mother Sahera Khatun stated that her son was innocent, yet he was forcibly taken by Noor

Ahmed and his family members. When the family tried to intervene, they were verbally abused and accused of cattle theft.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station (PS) Md Rakibuzzaman confirmed that they had received information about the killing.

The law enforcers have prepared a preliminary report, and the body has been sent for an autopsy. Legal action will be taken once a complaint is filed, the OC added.

BARISHAL: A young man was beaten to death by miscreants in Gaurnadi Upazila of the district on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Rashed Sikdar, 24, son of Kamal Sikdar, a resident of Boro Dulali Village in the upazila.

Local sources said that Rashed lived in Dhaka. Recently, he came to village on vacation. Some youths demanded money from him illegally.

On Friday evening, he was beaten mercilessly as he denied giving them money. He was critically injured at that time.

He was then rescued and taken to Gaurnadi Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor shifted him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as his condition deteriorated further.

Later on, Rashed Shikder succumbed to his injuries at the DMCH at night while undergoing treatment.
