BARISHAL, Aug 19: Traditional Government Sher-e-Bangla Degree College in Wazirpur Upazila of the district is likely to be devoured by the Sandhya River, disrupting local communications.
The college area has been under erosion threat after cracks were created nearby the college adjacent bridge.
Locals said, due to heavy raining for the last few months, the college adjacent bridge of the Shikarpur-Ujirpur Road developed cracks; the erosion by the river was crested from that point.
Principal (Acting) of Government Sher-e-Bangla Degree College Mohammad Anisur Rahman Sharif said, the matter was informed to the authorities concerned including Water Development Board, but no response was made.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Sakhawat Hossain said, necessary measures will be taken soon to prevent the erosion.
