Bangladesh pacers shone on a rain-interrupted Day-1 of the first Test in the two-match series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Pakistan on Wednesday as the hosts posted 158 runs for four wickets in 41 overs before play was called off for the day.

The toss was delayed by four hours due to a wet outfield caused by rain and play couldn't start in the second session. The toss finally took place at 3:00 pm (BST), with the match commencing half an hour later.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first inviting Pakistan to bat. Hasan Mahmud made an early breakthrough, dismissing opener Abdullah Shafiq for two runs off 14 deliveries. Shoriful Islam then struck twice, first removing Pakistan skipper Shaan Masood, who managed only six runs from 11 balls and then dismissing the dangerous Babar Azam for a duck, leaving Pakistan in serious trouble at 16 runs for three wickets.

Saim Ayub and Saud Shakeel then steadied the innings forming a crucial 98-run partnership. Ayub scored 56 off 98 balls before being dismissed by Hasan Mahmud as his second wicket of the day.

Shakeel remained unbeaten on 57 off 92 balls, with Mohammad Rizwan not out on 24 off 31 balls as the day's play came to a close.
