The flood situation in Feni district has worsened on Thursday, leaving over 350,000 people without electricity and cutting off all forms of communication. Continuous rainfall, compounded with upstream water has inundated eight districts in the country, affecting over 22 lakh people in Feni and Noakhali alone.

In Feni's Sadar upazila, the situation has taken a critical turn as new floodwaters continue to pour into the area. The widespread flooding has left the district's residents in extreme hardship and fear.

Local authorities have reported that more than 87 unions in Noakhali are submerged, affecting around 22 lakh people. Among them, around 10,000 people have taken shelter in 345 relief centers, while 88 medical teams have been deployed to assist the affected.

Field reports from various upazilas in Noakhali revealed that most of the low-lying areas are submerged, causing severe distress to the residents. Agricultural lands have been flooded, fish farms have been swept away, and roads and homes are inundated due to poor drainage, leading to prolonged waterlogging and misery for the people.

Over 300,000 people of Fulgazi, Parshuram, and Chhagalnaiya upazilas of Feni district are marooned by the floods. Since Wednesday, these areas, including the town centers, have been without electricity. Bangladesh Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and BGB are working to rescue those trapped.

Bsides, the district's Feni Sadar, Parshuram, Fulgazi, Daganbhuiyan, and Chhagalnaiya upazilas are facing severe power outages due to unprecedented flooding, exacerbated by heavy rains and water flowing in from upstream in India. The Muhuri, Kahua, and Silonia Rivers have breached flood control embankments, causing water to rush into the surrounding areas, submerging village after village. As the situation deteriorates, over 350,000 people in the district are left without electricity, and all forms of communication have been severed, plunging them into a dire crisis.

In addition to Feni and Noakhali, Chattogram, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Patuakhali, Moulvibazar, and Habiganj districts are also facing severe flooding.

In Sylhet, river levels continue to rise, and the floodwaters from Tripura have inundated the Akhaura land port, leaving 520 families waterlogged.
