NATORE, Aug 22: Students and public gathered at the executive engineer's office of Northern Electricity Supply Company (NESCO) in the district on Tuesday, demanding cancellation of pre-paid metre system and of eradicating other irregularities.
But hearing this news, army members rushed to the spot and assured them of solving the problem; then students and public went away.
Students of the anti-discrimination movement announced the gathering programme on Monday. In response to that gathering, locals of different professions began to assemble in front of the engineer's office at Alaipur in the town.
Subscribers said, they don't want the digital metre system for electricity; the company is destroying a lot of money of the people through that vague system.
They submitted their seven-point demands to the NESCO authority for the welfare of the local people.
Captain M Sadad, in-charge of Natore Sadar Army Camp, said, they informed the matter to the NESCO authority and they wanted seven-day time to solve the problem.
