Azad Majumder appointed deputy press secretary to chief adviser

Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder

Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder has been appointed as the deputy press secretary to Professor Mohammad Yunus, chief advisor of the interim government.
 
A notification on Azad's appointment was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Friday.

The notice said that Azad Majumder shall perform the contractual duties of the post during the tenure of the chief adviser or subject to his satisfaction (whichever comes first) and subject to the severance of working relationships with other institutions and organisations.

Before appointment as a deputy press secretary to the chief advisor, Azad was the joint news editor of the English daily New Age. He was also the Bangladesh correspondent of Agencia EFE, a leading Spanish news agency, and he also worked as a stringer at the Washington Post.

He was a former sports and lifestyle correspondent at Thomson Reuters and a former sports correspondent at Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Azad Majumder also worked for a number of Bangladeshi dailies, including Daily Manab Zamin, and Prothom Alo.
Azad Majumder graduated from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University.

On August 14, Shafiqul Alam, the bureau chief of Agency France-Presse, was appointed as the press secretary to the chief advisor. Apurba Jahangir was appointed deputy press secretary to the chief advisor and Shabbir Ahmed as an assistant private secretary.
