Police seeks 10-day fresh remand for Dipu Moni

Police have sought 10-day fresh remand for former social welfare minister Dipu Moni in a case filed over the killing of Suman Sikdar in Badda area of the capital.

The remand hearing will be held in the presence of Dipu Moni in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jasim on Saturday evening.

Md Sumon Shikder was shot dead at Pragati Sarani in Badda on July 17 during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Following the incident, Sumon’s mother Masuma filed a murder case with Badda police station on August 20.

Earlier, on August 19, police arrest Dipu Moni from Baridhara in the capital in connection with the murder of grocery store owner Abu Sayeed in Mohammadpur area.

Police produced her in court the next day and sought a 10-day remand for proper investigation of the case. After a hearing, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohag Uddin placed her on a four-day remand.
