KHULNA, Aug 24: Tight security measures have been taken to celebrate 'Janmastami' at temples in the city, due on August 26.

This decision was taken at a view-exchange meeting between Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) and leaders of Hindu Community at KMP headquarters in the city on Saturday evening, with KMP Commissioner Md Mozammel Haque in the chair, according to a KMP press relese.

The meeting decided to take adequate security measures at the temple so that terrorists or militant groups can't  organise any subversive activity on the occasion of  'Janmastami' to ensure volunteers to deploy by the Puja Udjapan Parishad for keeping law and order situation stable. Adequate police including plain clothes and women will be deployed.

The KMP commissioner asked Puja committee to send to the KMP control room a list of temples where 'Janmastami' will be celebrated, to refrain themselves from activities during 'Ajan' and Namaj and urged devotees to enter temples without bags.

Traffic police will be deployed at the temples area, he said, adding that devotees and the Hindu community men should be refrained from sending provocation post through social media which will destroy communal harmony in the society.

Additional Police Commissioner Taslima Khatun, City Unit Puja Udjapan Parishad President Shyamol Halder, and General Secretary Shyamol Kumar Kundu, among others, attended the meeting.
