A husband and his wife died of electrocution in Gaibandha's Sadar upazila on Friday afternoon.
The incident happened in Balaata village at Ward No five under Laxmipur union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Kashed Ali, 45, and his wife Alima Begum, residents of the area.
According to relatives, Since Friday morning, Kased Ali and his wife Alema Begum had been working on a rice field near his home.
Due to the intense heat in the afternoon, Kased Ali went to a tin shed near the field to rest. However, the electric wires in the shed were exposed and touching the tin structure.
At that moment, he was electrocuted. Seeing this, his wife Alema Begum also suffered an electric shock while trying to rescue him.
later family members disconnected the power supply and found the couple dead at the scene.
Serajul Islam, Police Inspector (Investigation) of Sadar Police Station, said that the police have been sent to the scene upon receiving the information.
