Four individuals, including two women, were found dead in Feni dsitrict within two days and their bodies were recovered from different places of the district.
Among the deceased, the identity of one woman has been confirmed, while the identities of another woman and two men could not be ascertained. Police suspect they may have drowned in floodwaters.
The recoveries were made on Friday and Thursday (August 30 and 29) in various locations within the district's Sadar, Fulgazi, and Sonagazi upazilas.
According to local sources, an unidentified elderly woman’s body, estimated to be around 70 years old, was found in a river at Lemua area of Feni Sadar upazila on Friday afternoon. Later, the body was sent to Feni General Hospital.
The day before, on Thursday, the body of a 23-year-old woman named Rojob Bibi was recovered from the western side of Killar Dighi in Amjadhat area of Fulgazi upazila. She was the daughter of Nurul Islam Nur Mia from Uttar Dharmapur village in the same upazila. Her burial has been completed in the family graveyard.
Police recovered two more bodies from the Muhuri Project area and Char Abdullah under Sonagazi upazila in the afternoon and evening of the same day. One was estimated to be around 40-year-old, while the other was 30-year-old, both wearing lungis. Due to the lack of identification, one of the bodies was buried in the Char Sahapur area of the upazila after a funeral, and the other, which was partially decomposed, was buried by locals in Adarshagram of Chardarbesh Union.
Regarding the incident, Fulgazi Police Station officer-in-charge Nizam Uddin said that the family members have taken the woman's body after recovery, suspecting that she also drowned in floodwaters.
Meanwhile, Sonagazi Model Police Station officer-in-charge Sudip Roy confirmed the recovery of the two bodies and stated that they likely drowned in floodwaters. The partially decomposed bodies were buried by locals after being recovered by the police.
