Police have recovered the body of a teenage girl who was reportedly gang-raped and murdered in Gobindganj upzila of Gaibandha on Saturday.
Authorities have detaned Raja Mia, a neighbour, on suspicion of involvement in the crime. Asaduzzaman Asad, officer-in-charge of Gobindganj Police Station, confirmed the matter, reports UNB.

According to locals, the victim was last seen having a cinveration with her neighbours near her home on Friday night. When she did not return home, her family began searching for her.
Despite their efforts, they were unable to find her. The following day, on Saturday afternoon, villagers discovered her body in a nearby jungle and informed her relatives and the police.
Upon receiving the information, police recovered the body on Saturday evening and sent it to the Gaibandha District Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Investigators suspect that several people from the neighborhood may have lured or forcibly taken her to the jungle, where she was raped. When her condition worsened, the assailants reportedly killed her and fled the scene.
It is still too early to determine the exact cause of her death, added the police official.
