Doctors announce complete shutdown at all hospitals

Doctors have announced a complete shutdown at all hospitals across the country protesting assault on three of their colleague at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday.

The DMCH Neurosurgery Ward's physician Abdul Ahad announced the shutdown programme at a press briefing held at the administration building at 12:30PM on Sunday.

Nurses at the hospital also expressed solidarity with the doctors at 2PM.
Demanding arrest of those involved in assaulting the doctors, DMCH doctors and staffers have been observing work abstention since Sunday morning, suspending medical services at different units, including emergency and outpatient department.
Abdul Ahad said, "Two incidents occurred on Saturday night. Two groups attacked eachother outside the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Some came to take treatment at the hospital. Suddenly, rival group attacked them inside the hospital and hacked one indiscriminately till death."

"A private university student died at the emergency department. After that, his classmates attacked three doctors."

So, it is found that doctor, patients no one is safe here, he added.

From the press briefing, they announced four-point demands, including security of them at their workplaces.
