23 people die due to flood in Feni

FENI, Sept 1: So far 23 people have died because of flood in the district till August 31. The deceased included 13 men, five women, four children and one unidentified person. 

Of these, 16 ones have been identified while others have remained unknown.

With water recession, these floated bodies were found from different places.

On Saturday this information was confirmed by the district administration. 

Dead bodies included two in Parshuram, seven in Fulgazi, six in Sonagazi, two in Daganbhuiyan and three each in Sadar and Chhagalnaiya upazilas. 

Two recovered from Parshuram are:  Sahab Uddin, 70, son of late Amir Hossain of Uttar  Dhanikura area, Delwar Hossain, 40, of Madhugram at Mirzanagar Union.

Seven bodies recovered from Fulgazi are: Shakila Aktar, 22, of Noapur Village,  Kiron, 20, son of Belal of Uttar Koroiya Village,  Raju, 20, son of Mizanur Rahman of Dakkhin Sreepur Village, Abul Khair, 50, of  Kismat Basura Village, Sayed Tareq, 32, son of Sirajul Islam of Laxmipur Village,  Rajaber Nesa, 25, daughter of Noor Islam of Shonirhat Village, and Yusuf, 60, son of late Habibulla of Purba Darbarpur Village.

Bodies recovered from Sonagazi are: Nayem Uddin, 28, son of Mabul Haq of Mangalkandi Union,  Abir, 3, son of Sheikh Farid of Chharaitkandi Village, one unidentified man, 38, and one unidentified woman (Hindu), 38, one unidentified man, 40, and another unidentified one (could not be identified whether man or woman).

Bodies recovered from  Daganbhuiyan are: eight months old Noor Mohammad Miraj, son of Noor Nabi of Uttar Karimpur Village and Zafar Islam, 7, son of Humayun Kabir of Joyloskor area. 

Bodies recovered from Chhagalnaiya are: Kurfulen Nesa, 75, of Uttar Mondia Village at Shuvopur Union, Mohammad Ayub Khan, 60, son of late Ebadullah of Miran Kazi Bari of Maddam Nischinta Village.

Bodies recovered from Feni Sadar Upazila are: Umme Saima, 9, daughter of Saleh Ahmed Bhuiyan, unidentified man, 42, and unidentified man, 50. 

According to district administration sources, 10 lakh people were affected in Feni. A total of 1.5 lakh people went to shelter centres while others took shelter in different high buildings. 

Deputy Commissioner Shahina Aktar said, "We did not know exact reasons of death. We got information of recovering dead bodies. After inquiry, the death reasons can be known."

In the first phase, due to non-stop raining since July 2 for four/five days, Fulgazi, Parshuram and Chhagalnaiya upazilas were flooded.

In one month gap, the second time flood hit the district in the first week of August; after that ten points of the dam were broken, and these upazilas were flooded  again.  

On August 20, the third tome flood hit the district and flooded its all upazilas.
