A woman and her daughter were killed after facing a tragic road accident in Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.
The accident took place on the Cumilla-Sylhet highway at Betbaria area in the upazila.
The deceased were Foyeza Banu, 45, wife of Md Ibrahim Mia and a resident of Tilikandi village under Sarail upazila, and her daughter Ferdousi, 20.
Khantihata Highway Police Station sub-inspector Md Sarwar confirmed the information.
It was known that, a car carrying the victims was heading towards Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka from Sahilpur upazila. On the way, the car hit a stationary tractor carrying electric poles on the highway, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to Brahmanbaria General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said SI Sarwar, adding the tractor have been seized and legal actions will be taken in this regard.
