In the last year over 200 men, women and children died from dengue in the government hospitals while about 38,000 were admitted.
Director of Divisional Health Department Shyamol Krishna Mandal said, "There is no option to get rid of dengue; we can just eradicate aedes mosquitoes."
Besides BCC, different municipalities and local government administrations have been informed about it; and all have been requested for becoming sincere in this regard, he added.
He further said, there are all preparations in the government hospitals in Barishal.
Of the total 1,500 treated dengue patients, about 400 were admitted to Barishal General Hospital and SBMCH.
At present, dengue patients are admitted to these two hospitals daily.
BCC CEO Md Israel Hossain said, "We have no lack of sincerity in eradicating aedes mosquito."
"During the recent clashes, many sprayers were destroyed and some were stolen away," he added.
He further said, "Now we are carrying out spraying activities by limited sprayers and fogger machines."
The recent rainfall destroyed previously sprayed medicines. That is why a decision  was taken at a BCC meeting at Nagar Bhaban on August 25 for eradicating mosquitoes on priority basis, he added.
