Eight people found dead in four districts

Eight people including a university girl and a housewife have been found dead in separate incidents in six districts - Cox's Bazar, Dhaka, Sirajganj, Dinajpur, Laxmipur and Chandpur, in recent times.
COX'S BAZAR: A woman and her child, who were allegedly kidnapped from Padua area in Cumilla three days back, found dead in the district town on Monday night.
On information, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered the bodies at around 9.30 PM on Monday.
Deceased were identified as Arifa Akhter, 25, wife of Tanveer, and her three-year old daughter Tanisha Islam Anha, hailed from Ashoktola area in Sadar Upazila of the district.
Md Kalam Chowdhury, assistant director (Law and Media) of RAB-15, confirmed the recovery. After being informed, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in Shoikotpara area and recovered their bodies.
Arifa's family members had lodged a general diary (GD) with Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Police Station (PS) on the day they went missing.
Nobody was arrested till now. An investigation is underway.  Dodies were handed over to their family members.
SAVAR, DHAKA: Police recovered the decomposed body of a man and his son from Amin Bazar Union in the capital's Savar Upazila on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Fuad Islam, 54, and his two-year-old child Ashique, who hailed from Faridpur District, were found dead inside Rupali Saikat Housing in Bardeshi area at the union.
It was learnt, Fuad along with his son used to live in the housing society and run a dairy farm in the area. On Monday afternoon, locals discovered their bodies and informed police.
Confirming the matter, Savar Model PS Inspector (Investigation) Abdur Rashid said, they have recovered the bodies and army personnel along with police were being sent to the spot.
Cowherd of Fuad's farm Joy, 30, has been absconding ever since this incident.
SIRAJGANJ: Police have recovered the body of a college student, who went missing on August 28 while bathing in a river in the district.
The body was found in Ram Kharua area near Bagha Bari River Port in Shahjadpur Upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Sohaib Sheikh, son of Babu Sheikh, a resident of Ullapara Upazila in the district. He was an HSC candidate from a local college this year.
Earlier, he had gone missing in the river in Rautara Switch Gate area of the upazila on August 28 last while bathing in it.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahjadpur PS Sabuj Rana said, during the flood season, people usually visit the Rautara Switch Gate area. On Wednesday last, Sohaib and his four friends came to visit the area by boat. They all went into the water to bathe, and at one stage, Sohaib drowned there. Hearing his friends' screams, locals rushed to help and began a search, but they could not find him. Divers from Rajshahi, later, conducted a rescue operation but were also unsuccessful. 
Later on, locals spotted his body floating in Ram Kharua area near Bagha Bari River Port of the upazila on Sunday afternoon and informed the matter to police.
On information, police recovered the body from the scene.
Necessary steps would be taken in this connection, the PS OC added.
DINAJPUR: The hanging body of a female student of Haji Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) was recovered from a hostel in the district town on Saturday noon.
The deceased was identified as Suraiya Akter, daughter of Abdul Kuddus, hailed from Mubarakpur Village under Patnitala Upazila in Naogaon District. She was a fourth-year student of Agriculture Faculty in the university. 
According to police sources, Suraiya was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a second-floor room at Achia Girls' Hostel near the university on Saturday.
The hostel owner Md Liton Mia mentioned that his three-story hostel accommodates around 60 residents, with 45 to 50 students staying regularly. Suraiya resided in room 207 on the second floor, where each room is designated for a single occupant. 
According to him, Suraiya was seen and spoken to by other boarders as late as 9:30 pm on Friday night. After the housemaid served dinner, Suraiya was not seen again. When the maid went to collect cooking supplies on Saturday noon, she found the door locked from the inside. Other girls peered through a window, recording a video with a phone, which showed Suraiya was hanging from the ceiling fan. The authorities concerned were then notified.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Dinajpur Kotwali PS Selimur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that on information, police recovered Suraiya's body and sent it to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. 
An inquest report was prepared, revealing that she had a scarf wrapped around her neck. The police have contacted her family, and further legal actions will be taken after discussions with them, the SI added.
LAXMIPUR: River police have recovered the half-decomposed body of a young man from the Meghna River in Ramgati Upazila of the district on Saturday.
However, the identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Ramgati Barokheri River Police Outpost In-Charge Ferdous Ahmed said that local people spotted the half-decomposed body of the youth floating in the Meghna River in Alexander Asalpara area of the upazila on Saturday and informed them. 
Being informed, River Police recovered the body from the scene and handed it over to Ramgati PS.
Later on, the body was sent to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Ramgati PS OC Mosle Uddin confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to identify the deceased.
CHANDPUR: Police recovered the hanging body of a woman from her residence in Faridganj Upazila of the district on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Reshma Aktar Soma, 27, wife of Qatar expatriate Rajon, a resident of Gabdargau area under Rupshanorth Union in the upazila. 
Local Union Parishad (UP) Member Yunus Patwary said that Reshma's husband returned home from Qatar two months back. Since then, the couple had been quarrelling over various family matters. 
On Friday night, the family members from both sides held a meeting to settle disputes and reconcile husband and wife.
Later on, Reshma went to sleep in one room while while         her husband slept in another.
The following morning, family members found her body hanging from the ceiling fan of her room when they went to call Reshma.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Chandpur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Faridganj PS OC Md Hanif confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
