Jubo Dal leader 'beaten to death' in Noakhali

A Jubo Dal was beaten to death allegedly by Awami League men in Noakhali's Hatia Upazila on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the afternoon in Kaderia Matsya Ghat area under ​​Jahazmara Union of the upazila.
The victim was Belal Uddin, 45, a resident of Purrbabirbiri village under Jahajmara Union of the upazila. He was the president of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Jubo Dal Jahajmara UP's Ward No-6 unit.

Afshar Uddin, uncle of the victim, alleged, 'Belal was attacked by 12 to 15 terrorists on his way home on a motorcycle after a party at Kaderia Ghat area. The assailants Sohel and Jewel of the gang came simultaneously on another motorcycle and hit Belal on the head with a sharp weapon from behind. At that time, Belal fell down on the ground. Later, he was brought to the upazila health complex by me and the people around.'

After being brought to the hospital, doctors declared him dead there, he added.

He also said that Sohel and Jewel are known in the area as Awami League workers. They are members of the terror gang of Basar, a former member of the Zilla Parishad and Milad, the general secretary of the Union Jubo League, he added. 

Hatia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jisan Ahmed said that the body of the dead was sent to morgue for autopsy. An operation is being conducted to arrest the accused involved in the incident.
