The authorities of at least 60 garment factories in Ashulia industrial area have been forced to declare those closed  on Wednesday amid the workers' protest.

The employees of different factories from Baipail to Zirabo area on the Baipail-Abdullahpur road entered the factories in the morning. But later, they started protest inside the factories.

At one stage, after 10AM, the authorities were bound to announced the closure of their factories one by one.

The workers continued their demonstration outside the other factories, which were continuing their production activities, with various demands. They also threw brickbats that forced the other authorities to close their factories.

The protesters then took position at different points of Abdullahpur-Baipail road, causing a huge tailback on the street.

Members of industrial police, army and BGB are trying to control the situation.
