To aid in the medical treatment of those injured during the recent student movement, the country's leading private financial institute, United Commercial Bank PLC Limited (UCB), has extended financial support to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).

The financial assistance has been allocated from the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund, says a press release.
Recently, a team from UCB, led by ATM Tahmiduzzaman, Additional Managing Director of UCB, handed over a cheque of Tk 25 lakh to Dr. Kazi Shamim Uzzaman, Director of NITOR and Professor of Orthopedic Surgery.
Many courageous individuals stood up against injustice and discrimination in the recent student-led mass uprising. Their bravery and courage marked a new chapter in the country's history. Numerous people were injured in the movement and are currently receiving treatment in various public and private hospitals around the country.

While the interim government has pledged to bear their medical expenses, some of the severely injured require urgent medication and additional support. In response, UCB rose up to the occasion and took the initiative of providing financial assistance to several hospitals to ensure proper medical care and recovery for the injured students and people.
