Two groups of the Bangladesh National Party (BNP) were involved in a clash on Friday in Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila, resulting in a chase and counter-chase between the groups and attacks on houses over torn posters. .
The incident happened in Ishahali area under Kayet Para union in the upazila on Friday night.
It was learnt that the supporters of Ali Ahmed, member secretary of the upazila Swechasebak Dal, and the supporters of Babul Miah, member secretary of the upazila Jubo Dal, locked in an altercation overt torn posters around 9:00 PM.
At one point, supporters from both groups attacked each other with sticks and various locally made weapons.
Both groups have blamed each other for the incident.
Zubaer Hossain, officer-in-charge of Rupganj Police Station, said that police were sent to the scene after hearing of the incident.
The situation is now under control, the OC added.
