Additional secretary Shaila Farzana, attached to the Ministry of Public Administration, has been made officer on special duty (OSD).
Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Saturday (September 7).
Earlier on August 13, Shaila Farzana was compelled to leave her office at the Bangladesh Secretariat by the deprived officials. The officials who were deprived of promotions over the years confined her to her room. Later, additional secretary (Admn) rescued her and help her to leave the secretariat under police protection.
At that time, the promotion deprived officials also chanted slogans at two more additional secretaries at the Ministry of Public Administration terming them as "Sheikh Hasina's stooges."
Shaila Farzana, who belonged to the 17th batch of BCS (Admn) cadre, was the BCS Women's Network's secretary general. Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Special Branch (SB)'s chief Monirul Islam is her husband. Her husband Monirul Islam has already been sent to forced retirement.
Following the ouster of Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5 last, Shaila Farzana, an influential BCS officer born in Gopalganj district, went to her office at the secretariat first on August 13. She entered her office at the ministry at 10:30am. First, she went to the room of Alamgir Kabir, an official of the Appointment-1 branch. Along with him, she entered her room. Just at that time a group of officials who were deprived of promotions in the past, entered her room and asked her why she went to the office. Then the officials started shouting confining her to her room.
Receiving information, additional secretary (Admn) of the Ministry of Public Administration Masudul Hasan went to her room with some officials and took her to his office rescuing her. The promotion deprived officials then threatened her not to come to office anymore. She was then sent outside t5he secretariat under police protection. Since then she had not gone to the Ministry of Public Administration.
