Students from the 18th and 19th batches of teachers’ aspirants at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia organized a protest rally on Sunday, demanding the withdrawal of a special recruitment notice proposed by the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA).
Marking the demands, they brought out the protest rally from in front of the university’s main gate. Later, the rally ended at the same place after parading the main thoroughfares of the campus and assembling a rally there.
The students held various placards like, ‘Inform all of Bangladesh, bury inequality’, and ‘No recruitment notice without 18th batch’. They also demanded that the results for the 18th batch recruitment exam be published by September and appointments made in November.
During the rally, the students expressed concerns about the fairness of the special recruitment notice and called for a more equitable process. They urged the authorities to prioritize the appointment of candidates from the 18th batch before proceeding with the 19th batch. They also demanded the issuance of the 6th public notification to address the teacher shortage, enable auto MPO, and restrict the age limit for applicants to 35+.
