The appointments of eight, out of 59 newly-assigned deputy commissioners (DCs), have been cancelled.
Ministry of Public Administration's Senior Secretary Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman disclosed it to journalists at the secretariat on Wednesday.
He said the districts where the appointments of DCs were cancelled are Lakshmipur, Joypurhat, Kushtia, Rajshahi, Sirajganj, Shariatpur, Dinajpur and Rajbari.
Besides, changes were brought in the DC posts of four more districts: the DC of Tangail Sabet Ali was transferred to Panchagarh, the DC of Nilphamari Sharifa Huq to Tangail, the DC of Natore Rajib Kumar Sarker to Lakshmipur and the DC of Panchagarh Nayiruzzaman to Nilphamari.
The senior secretary said a fit-list was prepared through a selection committee. The commitee sat in a meeting today. After analysis, the appointments of the eight newly-promoted DCs were cancelled.
Earlier, on Monday and Tuesday, new DCs were appointed in 59 districts across the country.
A group of deputy secretary-level officials caused an uproar at the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday, protesting deprivation from these appointments.
