The Public Administration Ministry on Wednesday formed a one-member probe committee to find out the reasons of the untoward incident that took place at the Ministry's APD (Appointment, Posting and Deputation) Wing.

The single-member committee led by Health and Family Welfare Ministry Senior Secretary MA Akmal Hossain Azad has been given seven working days to submit its report to the Public Administration Ministry, according to a press release of Ministry's Public Relation Officer Md Mansur Hossain.

Besides, the appointment of eight new DCs were cancelled following the complaints of the BCS admin cadre officials of three batches (BCS 24, 25 and 27 batches). At the same time, the districts of four other newly appointed DCs were changed, according to two separate notifications of the Ministry.

The eight DCs, whose appointments were cancelled, are Sufia Akter Rumi of Laksmipur, Saiduzzaman of Joypurhat, Farhana Islam of Kushtia, Mahbubur Rahman of Rajshahi, Monir Hossain Hawlader of Sirajganj, Abdul Aziz of Shariatpur, Mobashsherul Islam of Dinajpur, and Monwara Begum of Rajbari.

According to the PA Ministry notification, the Deputy Secretary level officers will work in the same offices they were serving before the appointments given on September 9 and 10.

Besides, Tangail's newly appointed DC Sabet Ali has been transferred to Panchagarh, Nilphamari's Sharifa Haque to Tangail, Natore's Rajib Kumar Sarker to Laksmipur and Panchogarh's Mohammad Nayiruzzaman was made new DCs of Nilphamari.

According to the witnesses, immediate after appointment of 35 new DCs on September 10 (Tuesday), more than 60 Deputy Secretaries from the three batches of BCS admin cadre went to the Public Administration Ministry's APD wing to protest about appointment of some controversial persons as DC.

They have assaulted the APD wings Joint Secretary KM Ali Azam and another Joint Secretary level officer during the protest. Learning the matter, Cabinet Secretary M. Mahbub Hossain immediately interfered the matter and talked with the protesters. He assured them to take necessary steps to cancel the appointment of the controversial officials and appointing the actual deprived officers as new DC. Responding to the assurance of the Cabinet Secretary, the changes were brought. But, new DCs have not yet given in the eight districts.

Amid this situation, the PA Ministry formed the probe body to investigate the entire incident.

On the other hand, Divisional Commissioners of Dhaka Sabirul Islam and Rangour Md. Jakir Hossain have been withdrawn from their posts. The two additional secretaries have been sent to the Public Administration Ministry for further posting.

Besides, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Md Abdus Samad, also an Additional Secretary to the administration, was made Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the PA Ministry.
