Woman gives birth to 5 babies in Rajshahi

A woman gave birth to five baby boys at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital on Wednesday.

Merina Akter, 28, wife of Malaysia expatriate Abdul Majid, is a resident of Srirampur village under Badalgachhi upazila in Naogaon district.
On Wednesday (September 11) around 1 pm, the five children were born through surgery in ward number 22 of the hospital.

It was known that Merina's relatives brought her to the emergency department of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital around 12 pm when labor pains started. Later, her five children were born one by one through emergency surgery. At present, all the children are in good physical condition.

According to her family sources, Merina's husband Abdul Majid is currently living in Malaysia. They also have two daughters.

Rajshahi Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General FM Shamim Ahmed said the mother and her five newborns are still healthy. But they are kept under observation.
