Sheikh Hasina, Rehana sued over instigating attack in Ctg

Former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana and 81 others were sued on charges of instigating attacks on a protest procession in Rahattarpool area of Chattogram.

Mustafa Zaman, an activist of Sramik Dal, filed a petition with the Chattogram Second Metropolitan Magistrate Aliullah's court on Thursday.
Later, the court, after hearing the statement of the complainant has instructed Bakalia police station to receive the complaint as a first information report (FIR).

Other accused in the case include – former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, former education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, former Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, former lawmaker Salman F Rahman, and former Jamal Khan Ward councilor Shaibal Dash Sumon. 
Around 300 to 400 unidentified people made accused in the case.

According to the complaint, on August 2, after Friday prayers, Mustafa Zaman and his daughter took part in an anti-discrimination student movement in the Rahattarpool area of Bakalia.

Around 300 to 400 activists from the Awami League and its affiliate equipped with  armed, lethal weapons, iron rods, and batons carried out under the direction of the accused, leaving several people, including Zaman's daughter, severely injured.

Five people, including his daughter, were detained by Awami League members, and demanded a ransom of Tk1 lakh from their families. The detainees were released after giving Tk 50,000 each.
