Depression over Bay of Bengal, maritime ports asked to hoist cautionary signal 3

The well-marked low over southeastern part of Bangladesh and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression over the same area at 12pm on Friday September 13) about 160 kilometers southwest of Chattogram Port, 105 kilometers southwest of Cox's Bazar Port, 250 kilometers southeast of Mongla Port and 160 kilometers southeast of Payra Port.

It is likely to move northwestwards. Under its influence, deep convection is taking place over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecast in a special weather bulletin on Friday (September 13).
It says that squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kilometers of the depression centre is about 40 kilometers per hour risiing to 50 kilometers per hour in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the system.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary Signal No. 3 (three). 

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to take shelter and remain in shelter till further notice.
