A youth was hacked to death reportedly while trying to save his younger brother from an attack by a teen gang in Dhaka's Ashulia.

The killing took place around 9 PM on Friday at Kathalbagan balu field in Dendabor area of the union.
The deceased Sulaiman, 18, was a native of Nilphamari's Dimla upazila and worked in a local fabric factory living with his family in a rented house in Ashulia.

According to the family members, Sulaiman's younger brother Selim got into a dispute while playing with other teenagers on Friday evening. The altercation led to Selim being beaten and detained by the group. When Sulaiman arrived to intervene, the gang members attacked him, leaving him severely injured. He was later pronounced dead at Dhamrai Upazila Health Complex.

Sulaiman's father, Abdul Latif, demanded justice stating that his sons were not involved in any local gangs and that the attack was unprovoked.

Local residents reported that the teen gang had re-emerged after a period of inactivity in the industrial zone of Ashulia. They have called for immediate action to control the growing influence of these gangs.

Ashulia Police sub-inspector Gias Uddin confirmed that a murder case is being prepared and that several individuals linked to the attack have been identified.

The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to arrest those responsible, added the police official.
