Two women and a schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in three districts - Panchagarh, Bhola and Bagerhat, recently.

PANCHAGARH: A medical officer at Atwari Upazila Health Complex in the district reportedly committed suicide at her residence on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Dr Fairooz Anika Washema Prinon, 32.

Police suspect that Dr Fairooz Anika might have took the decision due to family disputes.

The deceased's family members said that they have found her unresponsive on Tuesday morning. Upon breaking into her room, they discovered her lying on the floor with a noose made from a scarf, part of which was still hanging from the fan.

She was declared dead by the on-duty physician after being taken to Boda Upazila Health Complex.

Dr Fairooz Anika had joined the health service on July 2 after being 39th BCS cadre and was working at Atwari Health Complex.

Police confirmed marks of hanging on her neck, and based on the family's request, handed over the body without an autopsy.

An unnatural death case has been filed with the police station (PS) concerned, the police sources added.

CHAR FASSON, BHOLA: A housewife reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Char Fasson Upazila of the district on Monday morning after being humiliated by the villagers.

The deceased was identified as Jahanara, 48, wife of Jamal Uddin, a resident of Ward No. 5 under Nazrul Nagar Union in Dakshin Aicha PS of the upazila.

Jamal Uddin said, "Some local people including Kamrul Sarder, Alamin Forazi, Abul Hossain and Nasir Mridah demanded Tk 80,000 to me claiming that my son Alamin stolen that money."

"After a few days, they again called me at Sardar Bazar, where they scolded me in front of my wife. Later on, they left us after taking Tk 30,000 and gave us time for paying rest of the money," he added.

Following this incident, Jahanara took her life by hanging herself on Monday morning as she felt dishonoured.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Bhola Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Denying the allegation, Kamrul Sarder said, "We called Jamal and his wife to ask about the money whether the money was stolen by their son or not."

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dakshin Aicha PS Md Sayeed Ahmed confirmed the incident.

BAGERHAT: A schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Sharankhola Upazila of the district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Jakia Khatun, 10, daughter of Jakir Hossain, a resident of Southkhali Tafalbari Village under the upazila. She was a fourth grader at Tafalbari Government Primary School.

The deceased's maternal grandmother Majeda Begum said that Jakia went to school in the morning of September 12 as usual. After returning home in the afternoon, she seemed so frustrated. Despite asking her several times, she did not talk about the reason behind her mood.

Later on, Jakia hanged herself from the ceiling of her room in the house early Friday.

In the morning, the family members saw her hanging body and informed the matter to police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Sharankhola PS OC HM Qamruzzaman confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed in this regard.
