Former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's security adviser Maj Gen (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique and nine others were sued with the Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court on Thursday on charges of kidnapping, enforced disappearance and a conspiracy to murder the chief of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's personal security team.
After hearing on the complaint, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Zakir Hossain ordered the Newmarket Police Station to register the complaint as an FIR after recording the plaintiff Lt Col (retd) Md Touhidul Islam Chowdhury's statement.
The accused in the case are former DG of DGFI Maj Gen (retd) Md Saiful Abedin, sacked RAB chief Maj Gen Ziaul Ahsan. former DC of DB Abdul Baten, DC Mokhlesur Rahman, former ADC of DB Golam Mostafa Russel, Golam Saklain, AC Mahmud Naser Joni Inspector Abu Zaif and Sirajul Islam Khan.
Adv Masud Ahmed Talukder confirmed this to journalists on Thursday evening.
The case alleges that on December 27 in 2018, Md Touhidul Islam Chowdhury was abducted from his residence on Elephant Road by individuals in plain clothes.
After being held incommunicado for two days, he was falsely implicated in two cases and sent to jail on December 29.
Although he later received bail and attempted to report the matter to the police, his complaint was not registered as a General Diary (GD).
