More than 50 people were injured in violent clashes between two rival factions of BNP in Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur district, which continued until Friday midnight.

The clashes broke out on Thursday evening in Toragar and Mokimabad Sardar Bari areas, as supporters of the two groups fought to assert dominance. The violence, which lasted throughout the night, saw both factions using locally-made weapons, along with incidents of vandalism and arson.
Several individuals with serious injuries were transferred from Hajiganj Upazila Health Complex to several hospitals in Cumilla and Dhaka for better treatment.

Hajiganj Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Mohiuddin Farooq stated that the situation was brought under control after joint forces, including army and police, were deployed late at night. The joint forces are currently conducting operations to arrest those responsible for the violence.

Local authorities, including the deputy commissioner and police superintendent, visited the scene, and additional police forces have been stationed to restore and maintain law and order in the area.
