Elderly man killed by lightning strike in Sunamganj

An elderly man was killed after being struck by lightning at Bishwamvarpur upazila in Sunamganj district on Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened at Charpara village in the upazila. 

Locals said that a streak of lightning struck on him when he was outside amid a sudden storm, leaving him critically injured. 

Locals rescued him and took him to a local doctor, where he was declared dead by the doctor.

On information, police recovered the body and handed it to the deceased's family members, said Kawsar Alam, officer-in-charge of Bishwamvarpur Police Station.
