Three electrocuted in three districts

Three men have been electrocuted in separate incidents in three districts - Chuadanga, Noakhali and Barguna, in recent times.
CHUADANGA: A farmer was electrocuted in Alamdanga Upazila of the district on Friday.

The incident took place in Majhad Village of the upazila at around 11 am.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Halim, 50, a resident of the village.

Local and the deceased's family sources said that Abdul Halim came in contact with a live electric wire at around 11 am while he was working at his fruit orchard in the area, which left him dead on the spot.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Alamdanga Police Station (PS) Sheikh Abdul Goni confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this connection.

NOAKHALI: A man was electrocuted in Begumganj Upazila of the district on Wednesday. 

The incident occurred in New Market area under Gabua Suburb in Eklashpur Union of the upazila in the evening. 

The deceased was identified as Md Sihab uddin, 35, son of late Shafi Ullah, a resident of Anantopur Village in the upazila.

It was known that the ground floor of the New Market had been submerged in water since the recent flood in the district. 

On Wednesday evening, Sihab came in contact with live electricity while he was turning on the switch of an electric motor to irrigate the water from the ground floor of the market, which left him critically injured. 

Locals then rescued him and took to Noakhali General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared the man dead.

On information, police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceased's family members without an autopsy as per their request.
Begumganj PS OC Md Anwarul Islam confirmed the incident. 

AMTALI, BARGUNA: A man was electrocuted in Amtali Upazila of the district on Monday evening.

The incident took place on the bank of the Payra River in Ward No. 1 Wapda area under Amtali Municipality at around 7:30 pm.

The deceased was identified as Md Rubel Mia, 32, son of Md Wahab Sarder, a resident of Purba Kukua Village under Kukua Union in the upazila. He was a dredger supervisor by profession.

Local and the deceased's family sources said that Rubel came in contact with live electricity in the evening while he was trying to fix an electric bulb at his work site on the bank of the Payra River in Ward No. 1 Wapda area under Amtali Municipality, which left him critically injured.

Injured Rubel was then rescued and taken to Amtali Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. 

Amtali PS OC Md Kazi Shakhawat Hossain Topu confirmed the incident, adding that the body was handed over to the deceased's family as no complaint is received from them.
