Lightning strike kills two in Kurigram

Two farmers died being struck by lightning strike in Kurigram Sadar upazila on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Md Ashraf Ali, 50, son of Salur Mahmud, and Ainul Islam, 38, son of late Sader Ali, both residents of Kadamtala village in Panchgachhi union of the upazila.
The incident occurred around 4 PM in Char area near Kadamtala on Monday afternoon.

Locals said Ashraf and Ainul were returning home after herding cows in a field. On the way, a streak of thunderbolt struck them. Ashraf was struck by lightning and died on the spot. 

Seriously injured Ainul succumbed to his injuries on the way to Kurigram Sadar Hospital.

Kurigram Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Masudur Rahman confirmed the incident adding that they have received reports of two farmers killed by lightning. 

An unnatural death (UD) case will be filed in this regard, added the OC.
