Bid to expand agriculture at Santhia

Three-day tech fair begins

SANTHIA, PABNA, Sept 24: A three-day agriculture technology fair was opened on the Santhia Upazila Parishad premises on Tuesday.

Under the theme 'Seed, fertiliser, irrigation and tools are the main for agriculture development', the fair has been inaugurated in order to expand agriculture.

The fair was arranged under the Rajshahi Agriculture Development project.  

On this occasion, a colourful rally was brought out, and a discussion meeting was held. 

The rally paraded main roads in upazila town.

Later on, the discussion meeting was arranged at Swadhinata Sopan Mancha. It was presided over by UNO Jahidul Islam while teacher Shafiqul Islam moderated the programme.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension-Khamarbari Pabna Dr Jamal Uddin spoke as the chief guest.

The address of welcome was delivered by Santhia Upazila Agriculture Officer Sanjib Kumar Goswami.

Among others, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rifatul Haq, Upazila Juba Unnayan Officer Golam Sarwar, Upazila Livestock Resources Officer Dr Jahurul Islam, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Abdul Quader Biswas, Santhia Press Club President Manik Mia, and upazila agriculture extension officers Junayed Al Sadi and Tanjila Ferdaus spoke at the meeting. 

A total of 23 stalls have taken part at the fair. The fair will conclude on Thursday.
