Ex-Lakshmipur MP Awal arrested from Kalabagan

Police arrested former lawmaker from Lakshmipur-1 constituency MA Awal from Kalabagan in Dhaka on Wednesday evening in connection with a fraud case.

Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (DC) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Public Relations and Media Branch, has acknowledged the arrest of Awal.

MA Awal is the chairman of the Islamic Democratic Party and a former general secretary of the Tariqat Federation.

While serving as the general secretary of the Tariqat Federation, he contested the 10th parliamentary polls on an Awami League ticket.
