AMTALI, BARGUNA, Sept 26: Public and transport movements are halted on a regional road in Amtali Upazila of the district due to using it for threshing and drying Aush paddy and straws.

The road has been risky due to slipping condition.

Passengers of motorcycle, bicycle, Mahendra and auto-rickshaw are committing accidents on the road.

Farmers are piling their Aush paddy on the road for threshing and drying by setting machine.

Transport drivers fear fatal accidents. They demanded stopping the paddy threshing and drying on the road immediately.

An auto-rickshaw driver Khalil Mia said, farmers pile straws in such a system that it is difficult to see whether the road ahead is bad or good.

Motorcycle driver Md Sharif Mia said, "I get it trouble to ply due to threshing on the road."

Farmer Siddiq Mia said, "As there is no threshing yard at home, I am threshing my paddy on the road. I don't know it harms the road."
General Secretary of Barguna Bus Owners Association Sajal Mridha said, as paddy threshing harms the road, so there is risk of accident.

With the demand of stopping the paddy threshing on the road, he said, "I draw the attention of the administration to stop piling paddy on the road and threshing."

Amtali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Ashraful Alam said, the movement of public and transports on the road must not be halted.
