3 people killed in road accidents

At least three people were killed in separate road accidents in Munshiganj and Chattogram. 

Our Munshiganj Corres-pondent reported a motorcyclist was killed while his pillion rider was injured in a road crash on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Srinagar of Munshiganj on Friday morning.
The deceased was Mohammad Rafi. Detailed about the victim could not be known immediately.

Quoting locals, Kanchan Kumar Singha, In-charge of Hasara Highway Police Outpost, the accident occurred when Rafi lost control over his motorcycle and hit a road divider on the Mawa-bound lane of the expressway at Samashpur area in the upazila around 10:00am, leaving Rafi dead on the spot and the pillion rider injured.

He said the injured was taken to Srinagar Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Our Chattogram Staff Correspondent adds two people were killed after being crushed by a truck in Sonaichari Pakka Masjid KDS Logistics area on the Chattogram-Dhaka Highway in Chittagong district  on Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as C&F officer Md Jasim Uddin, 38, hailed from Khulna district and KDS security guard Mizanur Rahman, 60, hailed from the city's Halishahor area.

Witnesses said a Chattogram-bound truck ran over the victims while they were crossing the road in the aforesaid area at around 9:00pm on Thursday. Md Jasim Uddin died on the spot.

Locals rescued Mizanur Rahman and took him to Sitakunda Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Khokon Chandra Ghosh, Officer-in-Charge of Baro Aulia Police Station, confirmed the matter. A case was filed with Sitakunda police station in this connection.
