A youth reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room in Joypurhat Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The body of Maruf Hossain, 24, son of Emdadul and a resident of Narayanpara village, was recovered early in the morning.
The victim's family members said that Maruf went to his bed after having dinner with them on Friday night. Later, around 6 AM on Saturday, the victim's mother found him hanging when she entered into his room as he was not responding her calls from the inside.
Locals claimed that Maruf may have committed suicide after being jilted in a romantic affair.
Joypurhat Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Humayun Kabir confirmed the body recoverey and said that they have sent the body to Joypurhat General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
An unnatural death case was filed with the police station and the actual reason behind the death would be known after autopsy, added the OC.
