In response to the devastating floods caused by continuous rain in southeastern Bangladesh, the popular Ottawa-based Bengali symphonic metal band, Opartheeb, has officially announced their much-anticipated concert, "Opartheeb's Abchha Neel Kona - Live," scheduled for October 5, 2024, at 5 PM at the Algonquin Commons Theatre in Ottawa.
This special event will not only serve as a platform for the release of the band's new album, "Abchha Neel Kona," but will also be a significant initiative for the rehabilitation of flood-affected communities in Bangladesh, in collaboration with Get Up Stand Up and Ankur International, says a press release.
All venue and technical expenses are covered by the Prince Mortgage Team - Dominion Lending Centres National. The organizers have stated that 100% of ticket sales and funds raised from the live stream will be donated to support the rehabilitation of the flood-affected people in Bangladesh. Additionally, the event will work alongside the Rudra Prince Hope Foundation to raise awareness of health and welfare issues within the local community.
Opartheeb will perform songs from their new album, including popular tracks like "Bangal," "Rupokotha," "Sagarer Pronoy," "Tumi Nei," and "Joddha." The band members believe their deep lyrics, metal rhythms, and orchestral arrangements will take the audience into a world of their ethereal melodies. Three Canadian Bengali bands-Bidrohi, Gohin, and Man on Bike-will also perform at the concert.
"We are thrilled to work with Get Up Stand Up, Ankur International, and our generous sponsors for this event," said Opartheeb. "The live streaming option allows us to connect with a larger audience, enabling anyone who wishes to contribute to this noble cause to participate from anywhere. Together, we will extend a helping hand to those in need through the power of music."
