BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday called upon the Dr Muhammad Yunus-led interim government to present the complete roadmap of reforms plan to the people.

Speaking virtually at the Jhenaidah Zila BNP's rally at the district town Payra Square he said, "The interim government should be aware of its ability and scope of work. They should understand what work they have to complete within a specific time frame,"

He said, "If they take unusually long time, the allies of the defeated forces hiding inside the administration can endanger the interim government." .

He said that only by restoring democracy in the country, we can show full respect to the martyrs and those who were injured in the student-people's revolution and we can restore the voting rights of the people.

Tarique Rahman said, "In last 16 years, the fascist government killed many people and made many others victims of enforced disappearance . They took away the rights of the people."

"But the fascist government collapsed in the face of the people's movement. This achievement belongs to all the people of Bangladesh," said Tarique.

He said that the formation of an interim government was necessary to fill up the vacuum created after the fascist regime collapsed.

Naturally, this government has taken responsibility to support all the people of Bangladesh. We lent our full support to the interim government."

"The interim government should present to the people the road map of reforms," Tarique said.

He said, "Considering the reality, we have to understand that not all reforms are possible for them, and they should not take the responsibilities that they cannot carry out."

Only an elected democratic government can ensure all these rights of people, he said.

Tarique Rahman said, "The great revolution of July-August gave us the message of freedom and victory. To the success of this movement in  overthrowing the fascist regime the people from all walks of life contributed, as did the political parties, students, farmers and workers.

If we fail to honour them, history will not forgive us.

Jhenaidah BNP organised the rally demanding justice for Shaheed Rakib and Shaheed Sabbir who were martyred during the democracy  restoration movement.

Payra Square of Jhenaidah was filled with the procession of BNP leaders and activists. The rally started at around 2:30 PM with recitation from the Holy Quran and chanting the National Anthem.

Acting Organising Secretary of BNP Anindya Islam Amit, Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, Co-Organizing Secretary Jayanta Kumar Kundu, Co-Information and Research Affairs Secretary Amiruzzaman Khan Shimul were present as special guests but they could not speak due to rains. Jhenaidah District BNP President Advocate MA Majid presided over the rally.
