As part of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's 78th birthday celebration, a group of former leaders of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) gave meals to the underprivileged and destitute in front of the former prime minister's Dhanmondi office on Saturday.
Anwar Hossain, former BCL central joint secretary told media, "Today is the 78th birthday of our party president and daughter of Bangabandhu. We distributed meals to the underprivileged and destitute in her honour. We also ask the nation to pray for her good health."
At that time, Mukib Mia, former Mass Education Secretary, Enamul Haque Prince, former Assistant Secretary, and Touhid Chowdhury, former Deputy Finance Secretary were present, among others.
Meanwhile, UNB adds from Gopalganj, Police foiled BCL's programme in Gopalganj marking Hasina's 78th birthday on Saturday.
This incident took place on the Government Bangabandhu College campus in Gopalganj Sadar on Saturday morning when BCL leaders and activists tried to bring out a procession marking the day.
