Five found dead in five districts

Five people including three females have been found dead in separate incidents in five districts - Sherpur, Chattogram, Rangamati, Bhola and Pirojpur, in four days. 

NALITABARI, SHERPUR: Police recovered the hanging body of an elderly woman from Baskanda Village in Nalitabari Upazila of the district on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Fazila Begum, a resident of Baskanda Village under Morispur Union in the upazila. 

It was known that Fazila Begum went to sleep at around 9 pm on Friday after taking dinner. Some time at night, she committed suicide by hanging herself from a branch of a litchi tree next to her house.
 
She had been suffering mental and physical health problems for long. 

On information, police recovered the body.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalitabari Police Station (PS) Sanwar Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed with the PS and legal action would be taken in this regard.

PATIYA, CHATTOGRAM: Police recovered the body of a man from a canal in Patiya Upazila of the district on Saturday morning.
 
The body was recovered from the Chankhgali Canal under Patiya Municipality at around 11 am.

The identity of the deceased, aged about 40, could not be known immediately.

It was known that local people spotted the body of the man floating in the canal and informed the matter to police. 

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Police assumed that the man might have been murdered three to four days back.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Patiya PS Akram Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to identify the deceased. 

KAPTAI, RANGAMATI: The body of a housewife, who went missing while crossing Pagli Para Chhara in Wagga Union under Kaptai Upazila of the district two days back, was recovered on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Moumita Tanchangya, wife of Suresh Tanchangya, a resident of the area.
 
It was known that Moumita went missing while crossing the Pagli Para Chhara adjacent to Shilchhari area in Wagga Union of the upazila on Tuesday last amid rain. 

Her husband Suresh Tanchangya lodged a general diary with Kaptai PS on Wednesday. 

Later on, locals spotted the floating body of Moumita in the Chhara at around 3 pm on Thursday and informed police.
Being informed, police recovered the body. 

Kaptai PS OC (Investigation) Debashish Sana confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this connection.   

CHAR FASSON, BHOLA: Police recovered the body of a teenage girl from the bank of the Meghna River in Char Fasson Upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon, 11 days after she fled the house along with her boyfriend. 

The deceased was identified as Josna Begum, 17, daughter of Md Jahangir, a resident of Ward No. 9 under Ewazpur Union in the upazila.

The deceased's cousin sister Aklima Begum said that Josna had a love affair with one Md Manik. Manik lives in a rented house in Dhaka. On September 14, Josna fled the house to meet her boyfriend. After a day, she called her family members and told that she was in Dhaka and going to marry Manik. 

Since then, she could not be reached through mobile phone. 

Later on, locals spotted the body of an unidentified girl on the bank of the Meghna River adjacent to Betua Prashanti Park in Betua Launch Ghat area under Aslampur Union of the upazila on Wednesday afternoon and informed the police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Bhola Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Earlier, police captured a photo of the deceased and posted it on Facebook. Eventually, they then came to know the identity of Josna.

The deceased's family members alleged that the so called lover of Josna might have killed and tried to dump the body in the river.

Char Fasson PS OC Shakhawat Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter.

BHANDARIA, PIROJPUR: Police recovered the hanging body of a man from his shop in Bhandaria Upazila of the district on Wednesday.

Deceased Md Shamim Hawlader Saddam, 38, son of late Abdul Maleq Hawlader, was a resident of Laxmipura Moholla under Bhandaria Municipality. 

It was known that Shamim Hawlader rented a shop owned by one Advocate Mahmud Hossain Nasim near Bhandaria Upazila Parishad and used to do work of gypsum ceiling design. As he did not return home on Tuesday night, the family members came to the shop in search of him early Wednesday and saw his hanging body. They then took him to Bhandaria Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Shamim dead.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Pirojpur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Locals assumed that Shamim might have committed suicide over a family feud.

Bhandaria PS Inspector (Investigation) Md Solaiman confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed in this regard.
