Tk  4 lakh banned nets burnt at Baraigram

NATORE, Sept 28: Baraigram Upazila administration in the district seized  illegal nets worth Tk  4 lakh, which were being used for catching fish, and burned these publicly on Thursday. 

Laila Zannatul Ferdous, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO), seized the nets by conducting a mobile court at Rajapur Bazar in the upazila. 

During this time, Md Abdul Halim, senior fisheries officer in the upazila, Md Abu Bakkar Siddique,  upazila fisheries extension officer  and Captain Md Sakhawat Hossain,  commander of Baraigram Army Camp,  were present and co-operated.

UNO Znnatul Ferdous said, this type of drive will continue for the interest of the people.

Owners of the seized nets fled away from the spot at the time of operation. 

The length of the seized nets is 40,000 metre, officials said.
